General Awareness for Staff

This general awareness workshop is designed for all employees and aims to give a broad understanding of dyslexia. In particular the workshop aims to:

  • Give a basic understanding of what dyslexia is and who it affects
  • Identify the nature of dyslexic difficulties and strengths
  • Identify work-related situations that can be difficult for people with dyslexia
  • Identify a range of adjustments that can be made in the workplace and working environment to assist dyslexic employees
  • Provide a case study to demonstrate what it is like to be dyslexic

General Briefing for Senior Managers

These short 45 minute briefing sessions are designed to inform Senior Managers of their responsibilities regarding dyslexia in the workplace. Each briefing will

  • Give an understanding of dyslexia
  • Develop awareness of challenges dyslexic employees may face
  • Outline employers legal obligations (Equality Act)
  • Suggest good practice in terms of policy and procedure

Senior Manager and HR briefing

A four hour workshop designed specifically for Senior Managers or HR professionals. This workshop will;

  • Explore what dyslexia is and who it affects
  • Identify and examine work-related situations that can be difficult for people with dyslexia
  • Identify a range of adjustments that can be made in the workplace and working environment to assist dyslexic employees
  • Review of the new Equality Legislation and how it relates to the workplace
  • Review of good practice relating to the selection process for promotion and employment
  • Information regarding dyslexia assessment and a range of reasonable adjustment
  • Group task
  • Review of policies
  • Review of audits

Line Manager Awareness Training

This workshop has been specifically designed for Line Managers with the specific aim of improving confidence in dealing with dyslexia in the workplace. Within this session the following will be included.

What is dyslexia?

  • Identify the nature of dyslexic difficulties and strengths
  • Identify work-related situations that can be difficult for people with dyslexia
  • Identify a range of adjustments that can be made in the workplace and working environment to assist dyslexic employees
  • Review legislative responsibilities (including reasonable adjustments)
  • The role of the Line Manager in positively supporting a member of their team with dyslexia
  • Actions to be taken
  • Audit tools for developing awareness
  • Case study

Dyslexia Screening

There are many issues to consider when screening for dyslexia. We can help you to:

  • Develop a questionnaire for screening either via paper or the intranet
  • Review staff self-referral information
  • Conduct in-depth screening for individual staff via computerised software such as LADS
  • Assistance with interpreting the screening results and producing reports
