General Awareness for Staff

This general awareness workshop is designed for all employees and aims to give a broad understanding of the different types of SpLD. In particular the workshop aims to:

  • Give a basic understanding of the different types of SpLD and who they affect
  • Identify work related situations that can be difficult for people with SpLD
  • Identify a range of adjustments that can be made in the workplace and working environment to assist employees
  • Provide a case study to demonstrate what it is like to have a SpLD

General Briefing for Senior Managers

These short 45 minute briefing sessions are designed to inform Senior Managers of their responsibilities regarding SpLD in the workplace.
Each briefing will:

  • Give an understanding of the different types of SpLD and who they affect
  • Develop awareness of challenges employees may face
  • Outline employers legal obligations (Equality Act)
  • Suggest good practice in terms of policy and procedure

Senior Manager and HR Briefing

A four hour workshop designed specifically for Senior Managers or HR professionals. This workshop will

  • Explore what SpLD are and who they affect
  • Identify and examine work related situations that can be difficult for people with SpLD
  • Identify a range of adjustments that can be made in the workplace and working environment to assist employees
  • Review of the new Equality Legislation and how it relates to the workplace
  • Review of good practice relating to the selection process for promotion and employment
  • Information regarding screenings, assessments and a range of reasonable adjustments
  • Group task
  • Review of Policies
  • Review of Audits

Line Manager Awareness Training

This workshop has been specifically designed for Line Managers with the specific aim of improving confidence in dealing with SpLD in the workplace. Within this session the following will be included:

  • What are SpLD?
  • Identify the nature of SpLD difficulties and strengths
  • Identify work-related situations that can be difficult for people with SpLD
  • Identify a range of adjustments that can be made in the workplace and working environment to assist your employees
  • Review legislative responsibilities (including reasonable adjustments)
  • Examine the role of the Line Manager in positively supporting a member of their team with a SpLD
  • Actions to be taken
  • Audit tools for developing awareness
  • Case study
